# eSignet

A Modern and Inclusive Digital Identity Authentication Solution

A modern, standards-compliant identity gateway for building secure digital onboarding and authentication experiences — deployable against any identity system, and built to work even in low-connectivity environments.

## Protocol reference

{% hint style="info" %}
**OIDC compliance:** eSignet exposes a standard OIDC discovery document. Relying parties can resolve signing keys and endpoint URLs from it directly, rather than hardcoding them.
{% endhint %}

```http
GET /.well-known/openid-configuration
```

{% hint style="warning" %}
Swap in your environment's actual host — the path above is the standard OIDC discovery endpoint, shown illustratively, not verified against a specific live deployment.
{% endhint %}

## Versions

This documentation currently covers the eSignet 1.x line, with eSignet-Go (2.x) content being added progressively. See [Releases](/home/esignet/roadmap-and-releases/versions.md) for the full version history.

<details>

<summary>eSignet 1.x (Stable)</summary>

The current stable line — OIDC Core, MOSIP/Sunbird RC/Mock identity plugins, and the deployment guide in this documentation set.

</details>

<details>

<summary>eSignet 2.x / eSignet-Go (In progress)</summary>

The next generation of eSignet, being rewritten in Go. Deployment-side documentation for the 2.x release line is being added under [Deployment Guide](/home/esignet/build-and-deploy/deployment-guide.md) as it stabilizes — check there for the latest release-branch-specific instructions.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://docs.esignet.io/home/esignet/overview.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
